I’m proud to say that I have won Best Feature Film Cinematography at the Phenom Film Fest in Shreveport, Louisiana for the film “Fuzz Track City.” This is an especially big honor being the inaugural year for the festival (2012). This award would not have been possible without the brilliant direction of filmmaker Steve Hicks and the immense talent of its lead actor Todd Robert Anderson.

They were especially kind to my work on the film, including this quote here: “Cinematographer Johnny Derango took those pretty pictures, describing a fusion of DP and director that promises a busy future for him.”
Just wanted to let everyone know that that I will be shooting one of the first projects done on the new Nikon D800 DSLR.
Nikon has been kind enough to supply me with two D800 camera bodies with which we will shoot a test scene for my upcoming feature “The Go-Getters”. The footage will be used for promo material for both the film and Nikon.
The “Go-Getters” stars J.T. and Damon Alexander and an actor or two that I can’t yet mention! The movie is being directed by the writer of the hit film “Brooklyn’s Finest” Michael C. Martin. Check back in a week or two to see a cut of the scene. I will post a full write up on my experience with the camera, along with production stills and frame grabs a day or two after the shoot. I look forward to putting this baby through its paces.
